Navigational apps are an area of continued explosion for mobile devices. This is a relatively new to app to me at least. It was mentioned in Practical Sailor by a subscriber. This app has not been recommended by Practical Sailor, yet.

It includes support for displaying charts in the S-57, S-63, iENC, and BSB/KAP formats and use of external NMEA/AIS over WiFi. IMPORTANT: you can try all the features in SEAiq Pilot VPP by downloading our other app, SEAiq Pilot, which has a 7-day evaluation period. SEAiq on the iPad, with nav data streaming from made-for-purpose nav instruments via the DMK 11A multiplexor, gives us a very complete, portable, nav solution at the salon helm station. We anticipate this capability could be helpful in falls seasons with early cold weather, on cloudy, drizzly, 45ºF days on the Chesapeake Bay, or on night.

If you are not familiar with Active Captain, they tend to cater mostly to cruisers but have some other interesting options. They have a web site, you can get on their email list and they have an app.
